A fine congregation gathered for the Ordination of Martina Duncan and Angus Muir as priests at a Territory gatheirng on Friday evening, March 17, 2017 at St. Paul's Cathedral in Kamloops.
Draped in Lenten purple there were dashes of St. Patcick's Green stippled throughout the congregation for the happy event.
Preacher, the Rev. Peter Zimmer joined Bishop Barbara Andrews, Pastoral Elders, Regional Dean Isabel Healy Morrow, a dozen or so territory clergy, presenter guests from other dioceses, many members from St. Alban's, Askcroft and members of St. Paul's and other Kamloops parishes each provided their own encouragement and in some cases priestly blessing to the newly ordained.
In her comments Bishop Barbara underscored the special nature of these particular ordinations.
"There is no difference in competence or ability whether priests are locally raised and prepared compared with a more lengthy and expensive residential seminary preperation." "This is an historical moment for our Territory as we move into new forms of ministry preperation and authorization" she said.
A copy of the rite is linked below for thos eunable to attend. Also below is a group photograph taken by the Dean (who for obvious reasons is absent from the photo).
