On November 16th   the Share Hope Society hosted a magnificent potluck supper at St. Michael’s. This was to thank their donors and volunteers who over the past three years have so generously contributed their time, talents and resources, to successfully settle 367 Ukrainian Refugees in Prince George.

With a leap of faith and the extraordinary help of many amazing volunteers and over a million dollars donated, a miracle of hospitality happened. These 367 displaced Ukrainians were given a warm welcome and a place of safety to live. So many of the newcomers we now consider to be our friends, our family.

As a secondary miracle, this huge endeavour brought together many faith groups as they worked to place a veritable flood of refugees. Anglicans, Ukrainian Orthodox Catholics, Roman Catholics, Baptists and Mennonites were united in common purpose. Strong ecumenical bonds of friendship were forged by working together in Jesus‘name.

A prayer for refugees.

We pray for an end to the wars, poverty and human rights abuses that drive desperate people to become refugees in the first place.

We pray for this in the name of your Son, who was himself born into the troubled life of a refugee.

Amen.
