House of Bishops - Niagara Falls

Bishop Clara returned from a recent trip to Niagara Falls for the Spring House of Bishops gathering. They arrived on Monday April 8th just in time to experience the eclipse. The Primate announced her retirement at this meeting. The Primate’s last day will be September 15, 2024.

A new bursary in honour of the Primate was established by the House of Bishops with the Anglican Foundation for a new bursary to support theological education for both ordained and lay women. Anyone interested in contributing to this new bursary can do so through the Anglican Foundation.

Items on the agenda at this meeting included hearing from the Primates Commission on restructuring the National Church. This group will be presenting its initial work at Council of General Synod in May. Other items discussed at House of Bishops included beginning the work towards the Primatial Election at General Synod 2025, and considering some of the resolutions that came from General Synod 2023 that were directed to the House of Bishops.
