First Nations Veterans War Memorial

The Nicola Valley First Nations Veterans hosted an update session for their War Memorial project. They covered the history of the war veterans in the area as well as the location and design of the proposed war memorial.  There were children drumming and prayers were said. This project is an important step towards recognizing the veterans from the Lower Nicola Valley who have often gone unrecognized.

Rev Angus Muir presented a cheque to the First Nations Veterans Committee on behalf of the Territory of the People and the Nicola Valley congregations and Pastoral Elder Amy Charlie said a few words. There was a chance to talk to the families of some of the veterans after the gathering.

Executive Assistant to the Bishop Claire Tosoff, and the incoming Dean, Rev. Dr. Kyle Norman were also in attendance.
